Are you someone who enjoys singing, listening and/or dancing to music? Now you can sign along with Mindy to some new songs created just in time for the holiday season! Music combined with movement is one of the most popular activities for our social robots when they are being used with older adults.

We are pleased to announce the availability of four Christmas carols with vocals performed by the talented Laura McLaughlin.

Our new holiday collection that includes:

  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas
  • Jingle Bells
  • Joy to the World
  • Auld Lang Syne

The robot’s choreographed movements and lyrics (spelled out in large font on the tablet) make it easy and fun to sing along to these familiar holiday songs.

While we are not trained music therapists, we are learning all the time as we find more ways to engage older adults and use our social robots to alleviate social isolation, boredom and loneliness.

We invite you to explore and support these two organizations who are doing great work in the area of music therapy:

About The Awesome Music Project

If you’re interested in spreading joy through music, we invite you to become a supporter of “The Awesome Music Project” (AMP) (https://www.theawesomemusicproject.com/amp4life)

From their website:
“…If there’s a song or playlist that can change your mood, a band that you love to see live, an instrument that brings you joy when you play it, you already understand the healing power that music can have.”

At Social Robots, we are aligned with AMP  that “…music can – and should – be systematically and consistently used to improve human mental health.” Having a sing-along with Mindy is a great way to engage your brain, body and spirit!

About the Canadian Music Therapy Fund:

The Canadian Music Therapy Fund is a registered charity dedicated to making music therapy available to more people in more communities across Canada through innovative programs and research projects. These initiatives range from music therapy programs for people on the autism spectrum, living with Alzheimer’s disease, challenged by anxiety and depression, rehabilitating speech or motor skills, needing pre- and post-natal care, or living with a brain injury, to name only a few.

Please check out our video channel on VIMEO to get a sneak peek at the new holiday songs! You can also contact us for more information on how to bring our robots and music to your community.
